SilverHawks was an animated television series developed by Rankin/Bass and distributed by Lorimar-Telepictures in 1986 (since 1989 was purchased by Warner Bros. which currently own the rights to SilverHawks). The animation was provided by Pacific Animation Corporation. In total, 65 episodes were made. It was created as a space-bound cop type show.[1] As was the case with ThunderCats, there was also a SilverHawks comic book series put out by then-Marvel Comics imprint Star Comics.

It was announced that The Nacelle Company is considering a possible reboot of the SilverHawks ip.

Plot[]

The show takes place in Limbo Galaxy where Stargazer protects the various planets in the galaxy. He finds himself in trouble as Mon*Star escapes from Penal Planet 10 and then later breaks out many other convicts that are part of his Mob. He aims to rule Limbo from Brim*Star as he can from there receive Moon*Stars light to transform into his stronger form.

In response to the requests of Stargazer for help, the Federal Interplanetary Force sends five SilverHawks. The five are lead by Quicksilver which reports to Stargazer. The SilverHawks are respected by all in Limbo and are constantly stopping all forms of crime.

Controversy[]

Many have noted very close similarities between the SilverHawks series and its original heroes and the series Science Ninja Team Gatchaman anime series (also known as Battle of the Planets and G-Force: Guardians of Space). [2]
