Panthro is a male Thunderian noble and member of the ThunderCats. His only weakness is his fear of bats. He is the next noble and also the second eldest after Jaga (until Lynx-O is introduced), this warrior is the chief mechanic/engineer and pilot for the ThunderCats. His name is a play on the words 'Panther', of which he is based, and 'Anthro', describing humans with animal tendencies and vice versa.

History[]

Panthro fled his dying home-world of Thundera with the other ThunderCat Nobles aboard their flagship. Panthro piloted the ship, watching as Thundera exploded before their eyes. Along with the other ThunderCats, Panthro was given new clothing and weapons (specifically a set of fighting sticks known as nunchucks) by Jaga to help him adapt to life in what would be the ThunderCats new home. When the Mutants attacked and boarded the ship, Panthro left with the other ThunderCats to fight them back, crushing a Mutant weapon with his bare hands and demonstrating his considerable strength. Panthro objected to Jaga's wish to not enter suspension with the others and pilot the ship himself, but Panthro realised that the auto pilot could not be trusted. Panthro entered a suspension capsule and made sure Snarf entered his.

Panthro once found himself up against the Driller, who was working for Mumm-Ra. The Driller kidnapped Panthro, and Mumm-Ra used him to create a clone of Panthro, which was then brought to life by the spirit of Hammerhand and sent out to plunder and destroy Third Earth. While the clone went out to wreak havoc, Panthro found himself dropped into a radiation pit by Mumm-Ra. Panthro eventually managed to escape the pit and he faced his clone in battle. Having bested it, Lion-O then used the Sword of Omens to destroy the cloned Panthro.

Personality[]

A jovial soul, he is, however, also quick to lose his temper (sometimes even with Snarf's pranks) and has a paralyzing fear of bats and a dislike of spiders.

Powers and Abilities[]

Panthro is physically the strongest ThunderCat and is a cunning warrior in combat, relying as much on martial arts as on physical strength. With Tygra's help, he builds all of the vehicles the ThunderCats use on Third Earth; including: ThunderTank, Feliner, ThunderClaw, ThunderStrike, and HoverCat. In combat, he uses a pair of chained fighting sticks (Nunchucks) with open-away cat-paws, which house several chemical spray-compounds that he can use against foes. The spikes on his chest bands can be used like projectile weapons or as rappelling lines.
