Classics/Ultimates Lion-O was first released by Mattel in October 2016. Later it was reissued by Super7 in September 2020. It is based on the ThunderCats 1985 original series Lion-O. For Ultimates wave five, using wave one's Lion-O recolored red like character Mumm-Ra as a red version Lion-O that mirrors him. Later in 2022, Super7 released a SDCC exclusive Lion-O (Hook Mountain Ice) version that included a color changing feature by light. Wave six saw a Toy Version recoloring based on LJN Toyline's release. Later, Lion-O (LED Eyes) was offered as a exclusive for SDCC in 2024, which with the LED Eyes release, the mold for Lion-O was updated. Later, Lion-O was reissued in the Deluxe budget line based on the same mold as the LED Eyes edition.
Super7's first release of Lion-O in wave one also included: Panthro, Jackalman, and Mumm-Ra (mummy form); all re-releases of figures in the Mattel toyline.
Lion-O (Mirror) was one of four figures for wave five; also including: Bengali, Captain Hammerhand, and Vultureman.
Lion-O (Toy Version) was announced with the other three toys of the wave six which included: Cheetara (Toy Version), Monkian (Toy Version), and Mumm-Ra, Ever-Living (Toy Version).
Lion-O (LED Eyes) was offered as a exclusive for SDCC in 2024 along with Ghost Grune and Mumm-Ra (LED Eyes). With the LED Eyes release, the mold for Lion-O was updated.
Later, Lion-O was reissued in the Deluxe budget line wave one along with Monkian in 2024, reusing the Lion-O (LED Eyes) updated mold.
