The Kenner's SilverHawks Toyline ran 1987-1988. SilverHawks is the only one of the three sister series to not have a toyline produced by LJN. Like most Kenner toylines of the time, a Play-Doh playset was produced as well.

The line had four unproduced toys that were shown in prototypes and mock-ups in Toy Fair catalogs by Kenner.

List of Merchandise[]

Wave 1 (1986)[]

Mostly featuring eight SilverHawk heroes (two of them being the later addition SilverHawks in the tv series), this was the original line of SilverHawks, all featuring a weapon bird accessory. There were also four mob villains that were picked from the series.

  • Maraj Vehicle with launching Hot-Seat and missiles
  • Tally-Hawk Super Attack Bird
  • Sky-Shadow Super Attack Bird
  • Stronghold Super Attack Bird
  • HawkHaven Playset (Unreleased, seen in Toy Fair Catalog)

Wave 2 (1987)[]

Not as documented batch of toys, as their back cards don't even list them. Four normal action figures (two SilverHawk heroes and two mob villains) are added for the brief spring release. The last three of the line are of a ill-fated Ultrasonic Suit batch, which was shown to originally have five planned, but two were cancelled for unknown reasons. All figures from the first wave were released again, with the logo less at a angle on the front of the cards, as well as features listed in the bottom-right as horizontal text instead of at a 45 degree angle in a triangle corner.

  • Sky-Runner Toy Vehicle with grasping tentacles and launching missile
  • Sprinthawk Toy Vehicle with hyper speed flip out wings and launching nose-cone
  • Copper Racer Vehicle (Unreleased, seen in Toy Fair Catalog)

Notes[]

The figures in most cases featured weapon birds with them. SilverHawks featured vac-metal “chrome” that made the toys very reflective; however, it was a double edged sword as it tended to come off the figure after awhile, revealing a dull yellow/clear color plastic underneath. Most notably, Super7 when doing their own line of SilverHawks deemed the vac=metal finish not worth it, due to the nature of that finish flaking off.

While somewhat like the show, some artistic liberties were made for the toys in the line. Buzz-Saw had not been colored correctly to yellow, instead being green. Wave two saw odd artistic choices with regards to Condor which was silver instead of pale purple metallic color. Windhammer had what would appears to be a wand or two-pronged weapon instead of a pitch fork.

Foreign Market Releases[]

America was a starting point for releases of the toys. Likely the only release of Wave 2. Canada seems to be second with the cards converted to bilingual English and French. The UK saw a a different design to the cards being a black space motif. Likewise the back has the same space design with colored boxes for the instructions. France saw stickered imports of America releases. South Korea likewise had American imports with stickers. Mexico saw a boxed release of a select eight of wave 1, not much is known of the toys themselves. Argentina saw it's own releases of the Wave 1, all made in Argentina as well.
